Tree Lighting, Community Sing-Along Usher in Holidays

The free, public event starts at 6 p.m. Monday evening near the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center.

The City of Dearborn’s annual Christmas Tree-Lighting Ceremony and Sing-Along at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave., will be 6 - 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8.

The free event will give guests an opportunity to enjoy live music, performances by local school choirs and bands, a Christmas sing-along and visit with Santa Claus.

The schedule of events on Dec. 8 is as follows:

  • 6 p.m. - Dearborn Big Band (Michael A. Guido Theater Lobby)
  • 6:35 p.m. - Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr. (outside, in the Theater Circular Drive)
  • 6:45 p.m. – Everyone enters the Michael A. Guido Theater

Theater Program

  • 6:55 p.m. - Performance by Dearborn High School Marching Band
  • 7:10 p.m. - Holiday-themed performance featuring the Dearborn Public Schools Elementary and Middle School Honors Choirs
  • 7:25 p.m. - Christmas Sing-Along with Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr.
  • 7:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. - Visit with Santa Claus in Studio A, refreshments in the lobby

The Tree-Lighting Ceremony and Sing-Along is sponsored by C & A Type & Graphics, Nigosian Oriental Rug Company, the Dearborn Lions Club, which is providing candy canes and refreshment volunteers, and Park Place Catering, which is providing hot chocolate, coffee and cookies.

Please note that this year, the Tree Lighting Ceremony is not being held during the Festival of Trees fundraiser for Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
