Walk a Mile in My Shoes Collection

The Dearborn Outer Drive Kiwanis is supporting Project Eliminate which is eradicating maternal and neonatal tetanus. Now you can help, too!

A new/used shoe collection,“Walk a Mile in My Shoes,” is being held by the Dearborn Outer Drive Kiwanis Club and you can help! This is a great chance to make an important difference in the lives of others while getting rid of some clutter in your closets.

For the last five years, Kiwanis Clubs have been working on eradicating maternal and neonatal tetanus in the world with Project Eliminate. Through various fundraisers and donations, it has been eliminated in 13 countries, so far.

All shoes with good soles are being accepted including boots, sandals, flip flops, sneakers, heels, men's, women's, and children's everyday and dress shoes. The shoes will be sent to a cottage business in a third world country, providing jobs, instead of going into a landfill.

The Kiwanis will get a portion of the profits when they are resold. The money will be used to buy a series of shots that prevents mothers and babies from tetanus for $1.80 per person.

For every 25 pairs of shoes collected, five lives can be saved!
