What's Open, What's Closed in Dearborn for New Year's and New Year's Eve?

Trash delayed one day for New Year's; holiday closings outlined.

Curbside trash and recycling pickup will be on a normal scheduled on Wednesday, New Year’s Eve.

Curbside trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day starting on New Year’s Day, which is Thursday, Jan. 1. Thursday’s trash district will be picked up on Friday. Friday’s trash district will be picked up on Saturday.

The Dearborn Administrative Center, the libraries, and 19th District Court will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan. 1.

The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center is open on Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The DISC is open 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

On New Year’s Day, the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All other city facilities are closed.

Discarded Christmas trees can be placed at the curb for pickup on your trash day.

Remember that cardboard boxes should be broken down so they fit in the green recycling cart. If that is not possible, the cardboard should be broken down, tied and placed next to the cart so that the driver of the recycling truck can easily reload the cardboard into the cart for disposal.

Also remember that trash should be bagged and put in the gray cart. Do not use the green recycling cart for trash.

Large amounts of excess trash set at the curb may require a special pickup, for a minimum fee of $55. Call 943-2433 for details.

Residents may be asked to lease an additional cart for a one-time fee of $55 if they regularly put out excess trash or excess recycling at the curb.

The City offers free disposal of items dropped off at the DPW Yard, 2951 Greenfield, the third Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The next free drop-off day is January 17.
