1 Dead, 1 Hurt After Workers Fall From Roof At Detroit School: Reports

Police said the workers were doing roof repairs when they fell through the roof and into the basement of a school in Detroit, reports said.

DETROIT — A construction worker was killed and another was injured Wednesday morning after they fell through the roof of an elementary school in Detroit, according to multiple reports citing police.

Police said the two construction workers were doing roof repairs at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary-Middle School at roughly 8 a.m. when they fell through a vent, and then roughly 30 feet to the school's basement, according to reports.

Police said one worker was killed in the incident and another was taken to a nearby hospital and listed in critical condition, according to reports.

School officials said no teachers or students witnessed the fall and the school was dismissed early while officials continue to investigate what caused the workers to fall through the roof, according to reports.
