1 Dead, 1 Hurt In Shooting After Lions Game In Downtown Detroit: Cops

An Oakland County man was arrested in connection with the shooting, according to police.

DETROIT — A man was killed and another man was critically injured in a shooting Sunday afternoon in downtown Detroit after the Detroit Lions football game, according to police.

The shooting happened at 4:30 p.m. in Detroit's Eastern Market Shed 6 neighborhood, at Riopelle and Wilkins streets near Ford Field, according to police.

Investigators believe two men got into a fight and one of them pulled out a gun and fired shots, according to police.

A Detroit man in his 40s was killed in the shooting, according to police.

A Detroit man in his 20s was injured in the shooting and taken to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition, according to police.

The suspected shooter, an Oak Park man in his 30s, was arrested in connection with the shooting, according to police.

He does hold a CPL and is likely facing murder charges, according to police.

Investigators were still trying to determine if the men involved in the fight knew each other, according to police.

Investigators did find two guns at the scene, but didn't say if anyone else involved in the fight was armed, according to police.

The neighborhood where the shooting happened is a popular area for tailgating before a Detroit Lions football game.

"Tailgating, drinking and guns…they don’t mix," Detroit Police Chief James White told reporters.

No other information was immediately released.

Police were still investigating the shooting.
