1 Dead, 5 Hurt After Wild Detroit Area Chase Ends In Crash: Reports
Police said the chase started after two women assaulted officers during a traffic stop, according to multiple news reports.
HAMTRAMCK, MI — An innocent driver is dead and five other people were hurt in a Thursday crash during a police chase that started in Hamtramck, according to multiple news reports.
Hamtramck Police Chief Jamiel Altaheri said officers stopped a white SUV with two women inside at about 12:10 p.m. in the area of Holbrook and Conant, according to news reports.
The women pushed and scratched some of the officers before speeding away, leading to a brief chase that ended at the intersection of Conant and McNichols Road in Detroit where the SUV blew through a red light and hit multiple cars, according to news reports.

One person was killed in the crash and five others were injured and taken to a nearby hospital where their conditions were unknown, according to news reports.
After the crash, the two women tried to run away but were quickly captured by officers and arrested in connection with the police chase and deadly crash, according to news reports.
