1 Dead After Semi Truck Crash On I-75 In Metro Detroit: Police
Police said the semi truck crossed over the freeway's median barrier through a construction zone, striking multiple vehicles.
MONROE COUNTY, MI — One person is dead and multiple others were injured after a crash involving a semi truck on Interstate 75 in Monroe County on Thursday morning, according to police.
Police said a semi truck was moving south on the freeway near South Otter Creek Road in La Salle Township at 4 a.m. when the driver lost control and crossed over the freeway's median barrier into a construction zone.
The semi truck then struck multiple vehicles in the northbound lanes, according to police.

One vehicle also caught on fire, according to police.
A 47-year-old Belleville man, who was driving the semi truck, died in the crash, according to police.

Two other people in one of the vehicles that was struck by the semi truck suffered minor injuries and drove themselves to a nearby hospital, according to police.
The drivers of two other vehicles also suffered minor injuries in the crash, but refused to be taken to a hospital for treatment, according to police.
Police said there were no construction workers working in that area at the time of the crash.
Investigators do not know why the driver crossed through the construction zone.
Both directions of Interstate 75 at South Otter Creekwere closed Thursday morning while police were investigating the crash.
