10K Without Power In Metro Detroit; More Storms Expected Wednesday
Nearly 10,000 DTE customers in metro Detroit were without power Wednesday morning as the region braces for another round of thunderstorms.
METRO DETROIT — Nearly 10,000 metro Detroiters were without power Wednesday morning after severe thunderstorms rolled through the area Tuesday evening, according to DTE Energy.
Most of the outages were in Macomb and Oakland counties, particularly in areas around Rochester, Shelby Township, Chesterfield and New Baltimore, according to the utility.
Hundreds of DTE customers in the Northville and Novi areas were also without power Wednesday morning. Smaller outages were scattered across Wayne County.

The utility said it has over 320 crews working in the field to restore the power. Most of the outages were caused by trees striking power lines, DTE said.
DTE also warned people to stay at least 25 feet away from a downed power line. You can report a downed power line to DTE online here or by phone at 800-477-4747.

Showers and thunderstorms were expected across the metro Detroit area again Wednesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters warned some storms can produce heavy rainfall and damaging wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour.
"Excessive rainfall and localized flooding remain possible as thunderstorms increase coverage and intensity late today into tonight," NWS forecasters warned. "Broader rainfall totals average between a half inch to 1 inch, with localized higher amounts possible."
