Nearly 90,000 DTE customers across the metro Detroit area were without power Friday night as high winds swept into the area.

Forecasters warned the strong winds will lead to downed tree limbs and power lines, causing widespread power outages.

There is a slight chance for rain Friday night before sunny skies on Saturday with highs in the 40s, the weather service said.

Another round of accumulating snow is possible Saturday night into Sunday morning. Forecasters said the Detroit area should expect around 1 inch of fresh snow.

Temperatures will warm back into the 50s on Monday with a chance for a wintry mix across the region, the weather service said.

Heavy snow is expected to blanket northern Michigan this weekend. The storm could dump up to 2 feet of snow in some areas by Saturday night, the weather service said.
