17K Without Power In Metro Detroit After Wednesday's Storms
A powerful line of thunderstorms swept through Metro Detroit, particularly Wayne County, with heavy rain and high winds.

METRO DETROIT — More than 17,000 DTE customers were still in the dark Thursday morning after a powerful line of thunderstorms swept through the area Wednesday afternoon.
The 17,000 power outages were widespread across the Metro Detroit area, especially Wayne County, where the Garden City and Livonia areas saw the greatest number of outages.
Other areas that saw widespread outages were the Romulus, Redford, Detroit's west side, Downriver and south of Willow Run Airport.

The storms brought heavy rain and high winds that uprooted trees and scattered debris across roadways. Wayne County, particularly the Garden City and Westland areas were hit the hardest as meteorologists said they clocked wind gusts over 60 miles per hour.
