2 Major Metro Detroit Freeway Closures This Weekend

Two major Metro Detroit freeways will have road closures this weekend, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

METRO DETROIT — Two major Metro Detroit freeways will have road closures this weekend, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Construction crews will close westbound Interstate 696 from Telegraph to Interstate 275 in Oakland County at 8 p.m. Friday. The freeway will open back up Monday at 5 a.m.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured to southbound Telegraph Road, then westbound 8 Mile Road to westbound Michigan 5 and back to westbound Interstate 696/ Interstate 96.

Crews will also close westbound Interstate 94 between Interstate 75 and Interstate 96 in Detroit at 9 p.m. Friday. The freeway will open back up Monday at 5 a.m.

The work was supposed to be done last weekend, but crews postponed the job because of high winds.
