2 Michigan Drill Teams Tapped for Donald Trump’s Inaugural Parade

Parade down Pennsylvania Avenue follows swearing-in ceremonies for President-elect Donald J. Trump, Vice President-elect Michael R. Pence.

Two Michigan groups — the Michigan Multi-Jurisdictional Mounted Police Drill Team and Color Guard based in Ann Arbor and the Mid America Cowgirls Rodeo Drill Team based in New Buffalo — will participate in the inaugural parade following Jan. 20 swearing in ceremonies for President-elect Donald J. Trump and Vice President-elect Michael R. Pence.

The inaugural committee made the announcement Friday. The parade will feature more than 8,000 participants representing 40 groups, and will include high school and university marching bands, equestrian corps, first responders and veterans groups. Each branch of the military will also be represented.

“People from every corner of the country have expressed great interest in President-elect Trump’s inauguration and look forward to continuing a salute to our republic that spans more than two centuries,” Sara Armstrong, the CEO of the inaugural committee said in a news release. “As participants follow in the footsteps of our new president and vice president down Pennsylvania Avenue, they will be adding their names to the long list of Americans who have honored our country by marching in the inaugural parade.”
