DETROIT — Two popular Detroit nightlife spots are closing down at the end of June.

Spot Lite, located in Islandview on the city’s eastside, will shut down on June 28 and UFO Bar, located in Corktown, will close down for good on June 30, the owners said.

"From the pandemic to troubling times locally and globally, we have all been able to reconnect on this dance floor to find joy and community," the owners said. "We are incredibly grateful to all of our patrons, artists, dancers, and most of all, our team that made the party happen each night."

The UFO Bar spot will turn into a Detroit Vinyl Bar, a new cocktail and record store under new ownership.

Longtime Hamtramck staple the Fowling Warehouse also announced its closing at the end of the month. The owner said it's not sustainable to continue business at its current location.
