2 Suspicious Packages Found at Downtown Detroit Federal Building: Updated

All-clear given by bomb squad, federal agents after 2 suspicious packages were found near the McNamara Federal Building in downtown Detroit

(Updated) DETROIT, MI — Two suspicious packages were found at the McNamara Federal Building, where Drug Enforcement Administration offices are located, in downtown Detroit Wednesday morning, according to reports. The all-clear was given later Wednesday morning.

The Detroit Police Bomb Squad, Homeland Security Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on the scene, WDIV-TV reported. The items found were a garment bag and speaker, the TV station said.

Motorists and pedestrians were urged to stay away from the area, WWJ Radio reported. The building is located at 477 Michigan Ave., and nearby streets have been blocked off.
