2 Teens Dead, 1 Hurt In Detroit Crash Involving Drunken Driver: Police

Police believe speed also played a role in the crash.

DETROIT — Two teens were killed and a third was injured in a Sunday night crash that involved a drunken driver in Detroit, according to police.

The crash happened at 11:40 p.m. in the area of Gratiot and Harper avenues, according to police.

Police said three teens were inside a Dodge Charger that was speeding north on Gratiot Avenue Sunday night when it struck a BMW that was turning left from the southbound lanes near Harper Avenue.

The Charger left the roadway, struck two parked cars and hit a party store before coming to a rest, according to police.

A teen boy and a teen girl, who were inside the Charger were killed in the crash, according to police.

Another teen was taken to a nearby hospital, where they were listed in critical condition, according to police.

The driver of the BMW was not injured in the crash, but was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk, according to police.

No further information was released.

Police were still investigating the crash.
