2 Teens Injured In E-Bike Crash With Car In Metro Detroit: Police

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — Two teens were injured after they were hit by a car while riding their e-bikes in a metro Detroit suburb last weekend, according to police.

The crash happened at 9:20 p.m. last Saturday in the area of Inkster Road and Clarita Street in Redford Township, according to police.

The two teens were riding e-bikes across Inkster Road toward Clarita Street when they were hit by a Black Dodge Journey that was moving north on Inkster, according to police.

A 15-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy were injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital, according to police.

Family told WXYZ the teens were siblings who were riding their new e-bikes home from the store.

They told the news station the girl suffered four fractured ribs and a liver laceration, but was able to go home. Her brother was still hospitalized with a serious head injury and a broken arm, family members said.

The driver who hit the teens stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash.
