Rappers Dominique Brown and Ramell Campbell were killed when about 30 rounds were fired into their car on a stretch of I-94.

DETROIT, MI — Two well-known Detroit rappers were fatally shot in a spray of gunfire on Interstate 94 early Sunday morning, Michigan State Police said. About 30 shots were fired into the car occupied by Dominique Brown and Ramell Campbell about 2:45 a.m. near Livernois, police said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing, police said. Investigators believe the shots were fired over a stretch of eastbound I-94 to the spot near Livernois where the vehicle came to a rest. The freeway was closed for a time as state police, detectives from the 2nd District Special Investigations, a crash-scene reconstructionist, a police dog and the MSP Crime Lab processed the scene.
