3 Dead, 4 Hurt In Detroit Mass Shooting At Strip Club-Like Home: Police

DETROIT — Three people were killed and four others were injured in a mass shooting Sunday morning in Detroit, according to police.

The shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. at the corner of Eaton and Prest streets, near a home that was hosting "dancing-type activities," according to police.

Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison did not identify the victims, but said they are all men in their 30s.

Two other men and two women, all in their 20s and 30s, were also shot and taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Bettison said.

Bettison said the shooting stemmed from a fight, but did not discuss any further motive beyond that.

This was not the first time officers had been called to the home, which acted as an after-hours spot, Bettison said.

"This was an after-hours location," he said. "Imagine a strip club. … I’ll leave it at that."

Police did not make an immediate arrest and did not share any information about a possible suspect. They did assure that there is no threat to the public at this time.

"We know that we need more people to speak up to bring justice to the situation," Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield said at the news conference. "It's heartbreaking and our community should not suffer from this type of violence."
