METRO DETROIT — There were at least three drowning deaths across Metro Detroit over the holiday weekend, according to police.
The latest incident came Monday after officials pulled the body of a 23-year-old man from Belleville Lake, according to police.
Investigators said the 23-year-old Van Buren Township man was wading in the water in Belleville Lake off Firecracker Island on Memorial Day just before 4 p.m. when he slipped and went underwater.

The 23-year-old man was with three family members who were on a boat, which they docked on the island, according to police.
One of the family members tried to rescue the man as he was going under the water, according to police.

A dive team searched the area and found the missing man's body in roughly 11 feet of water, according to police.
The death comes after an 11-year-old boy drowned Saturday at a beach at the Holly Recreation Area, according to police.
Police said the 11-year-old boy was on a flotation device about 10 feet from the shore when he went underwater and drowned.
Later that same day, police responded to another drowning at Galloway Lake in Auburn Hills where a 21-year-old died, according to police.
