A couple inches of snow is expected across the Detroit area Tuesday night amid bitter cold temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
Highs will only reach the teens Tuesday with winds reaching up to 24 miles per hour, making it feel much colder throughout the day, the weather service said.
The snow will move into the region late Tuesday night and into the overnight hours, with peak snowfall rates between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, the weather service said.

Forecasters expect between 2–3 inches of fresh snow across the metro area by the morning hours and warned it will affect the early drive.
Overnight lows will fall into the single digits with wind chills dropping to -10 to -15 degrees, the weather service said.

Highs will climb back into the 30s Wednesday with occasional strong winds reaching up to 40 miles per hour in the afternoon hours, the weather service said.
Thursday will be colder and below freezing when another arctic blast moves into the region, pushing overnight lows back into the single digits, the weather service said.
Friday's high will stay in the single digits with overnight lows falling to below zero with wind chills below -15 degrees, the weather service said.
The dangerously cold temperatures will stick around through the weekend, the weather service said.
