3-Year-Old Boy Shot, Injured In Detroit; Parents Story 'Not Making Sense': Reports

DETROIT — A 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot in the stomach inside a Detroit home early Wednesday morning, according to multiple reports citing police.
The shooting happened at 12:45 a.m. on West Grand Street in the area of Livernois and Davison, according to reports.
Police said that a 15-year-old was watching the 3-year-old boy and two other babies, including a two-year-old girl and a two-month old at the time of the shooting, according to reports.

The 3-year-old child's mother told police she went to the laundromat and was unloading the car when she heard a pop, though no one else in the neighborhood heard the gunshot, according to reports.
Police did not say where the child's father was at the time of the shooting, but police did say the parents' stories do not make sense, according to reports.

"The story's not making any sense at all," Detroit Police Asst. Chief Charles Fitzgerald told reporters. "Conflicting stories from the mom, conflicting stories from the dad."
Investigators did not find any shell casings and were still looking for a gun, according to reports.
Both parents were detained and police called CPS, according to reports.
