40K Without Power In Metro Detroit After Strong Storms
Forecasters warned more thunderstorms are likely across southeastern Michigan again Thursday.
METRO DETROIT — More than 40,000 DTE Energy customers across metro Detroit were without power Thursday morning after strong thunderstorms rolled through the region Wednesday night, according to the utility.
Oakland County was the hardest hit area, where roughly 25,000 residents were without power, followed by 12,000 in Macomb County, according to the utility.
There were also scattered power outages across Wayne County, and another 1,000 outages in the Ann Arbor area, according to the utility.

"Extreme weather has hit Southeast Michigan, and DTE's Storm Response Teams are working hard to restore power to impacted customers as quickly and safely as possible," according to a storm alert on DTE Energy's website. "Report any outage or downed power line here."
DTE officials reminded people to stay at least 25 feet away from downed power lines and avoid touching the wires.

Forecasters warned more thunderstorms are likely across southeastern Michigan again Thursday. Some storms could become severe and produce winds up to 60 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
