Add Macomb And Oakland Counties To Disaster Order; Says Whitmer
Gov. Whitmer requests the two counties be added to federal disaster declaration for the heavy rainfall that occurred in late June.

MICHIGAN—Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Friday asked the Biden administration to add Macomb and Oakland counties to the presidential disaster declaration that was recently issued for Wayne and Washtenaw counties, according to a news release.
If Macomb and Oakland Counties are added to the federal declaration, households would be eligible for assistance that includes grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help people and businesses recover, the news release said.
"As we continue to assess the widespread impact these storms had on our communities, we are working with our local and federal partners to ensure that all resources are available to help our residents as they recover,” Gov. Whitmer said in the news release. "A presidential declaration for these additional counties will unlock even greater resources to help residents who suffered loss of personal property and untold damage to their homes."
