America’s Cheapest Beer Is In Michigan, Most Expensive In Pennsylvania

The financial advice blog Simple Thrifty Living looked at the cost in each state of a 24-pack of two of America's favorite beers.

Beer lovers, raise a pint to the best possible news: Michigan beer is the cheapest in the country. That’s according to a study from Simple Thrifty Living, a financial advice blog that looked at the cost of a case of beer in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

On average, Michigan residents pay $14.62 for a 24-pack of beer, seven bucks and change less than beer drinkers pay in Pennsylvania and $2 less than the No. 10 cheapest state, Nebraska. The data used in the study was obtained primarily from two major retailers, Walmart and Total Wine, and surveys from 10 nearby stores. A mix of urban and rural locations were considered, and prices for 24-packs of 12-ounce cans were obtained for two popular domestic beers: Bud Light and Miller Lite.
