Financial website WalletHub ranked Detroit as the worst place in the nation to raise a family.
The ranking found Detroit earned low marks for family fun (75), health and safety (167), education and child care (180), affordability (151) and socio-economics (182).
Detroit was also bottom ten for divorce rate, families living below the poverty line and median salary.
Overall, Detroit earned a 33.81 score, placing it dead last at No. 182 in the study.
To determine the ranking, WalletHub looked at 45 key metrics, including the cost of housing, the quality of local school and health-care systems, and the opportunities for fun and recreation.
"Finding the best place to raise a family is difficult, between balancing an affordable cost of living with good educational opportunities, safety and enough recreation to keep kids entertained," WalletHub Analyst Chip Lupo wrote. "On top of all of these factors, people also often want to raise their children close to their extended family."
