DETROIT — Detroit entrepreneur Mark Rieth has reacquired Atwater Brewery, according to a press release.
Rieth owned the popular brewery from 2005 to 2020 when he sold it to Tenth and Blake Beer Company, who then sold it to Tilray Brands in 2023.
Rieth takes back control of the building, brand, equipment, and intellectual property.
"My heart has always been with Atwater, and I’m thrilled to have the brewery back in my hands," Rieth said. "I appreciate the stewardship of both Tenth and Blake and Tilray over the past five years and the contributions they made to the business. At the same time, what I hope to bring is the deeper connection to the community that only a local owner/operator can truly provide."
Atwater Brewery has been a staple in Detroit's craft beer scene since 1997. It is best known for its authentic German-style lagers and heritage-inspired ales, including the Dirty Blonde Ale and Vanilla Java Porter.
