DETROIT — A man was fatally shot by officers Thursday in Detroit, according to police.
The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. at a home on Rosemont Avenue near 7 Mile and Southfield roads, according to police.
Detroit police Deputy Chief Arnold Williams said officers were executing a search warrant in connection to a felonious assault that happened earlier this month.
Officers entered the home and were met with gunfire, Williams said.
Officers returned fire and fatally struck a man, Williams said.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
Police did not immediately identify the man, who was the only registered occupant of the home, Williams said.
Investigators reviewed officers body camera footage while at the scene. They believe the video matches the account given by officers, though the information is preliminary, Williams said.
Police did not release any details about the officer involved in the shooting.
Police are still investigating the shooting.
