1 Dead In 4-Car Crash On I-94 In Detroit: Police

Police said multiple cars were speeding on the freeway and caused a chain reaction crash.

DETROIT — One person was killed in a four-car weekend crash on Interstate 94 in Detroit, according to police.

The crash happened at 10:54 p.m. Saturday in the westbound lanes on the freeway near Brush Street and Woodward Avenue, according to police.

Police said multiple cars were speeding on the freeway and caused a chain reaction crash.

One person was killed in the crash, according to police.

Police did not immediately identify the victim or release any specific details about the crash.

"This serves as another tragic reminder of the dangers of excessive speed," police said in a statement. "Speeding significantly reduces your ability to react and increases the severity of crashes. Slow down, stay focused and help keep Michigan's roadways safe."

Police were still investigating the crash.
