Tornadoes, Severe Storms Threaten Detroit Area Monday

Multiple waves of severe thunderstorms are possible across the Detroit area Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The first line of storms is expected to hit the area sometime between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. before another wave of storms later in the afternoon and evening hours, according to NWS.

Forecasters warned the storms will be capable of torrential downpours, large hail, damaging winds reaching up to 70 miles per hour and isolated tornadoes.

Most of southeastern Michigan is under an Enhanced Risk (level 3/5) for severe weather Monday.

Highs Monday will climb into the upper 80s as the storms develop across the region, according to NWS.

Slightly cooler temperatures are expected across the region Tuesday with highs in the low 80s with gusty winds and plenty of sunshine, according to NWS.

Highs will stick to the 80s through the rest of the week before another chance for rain on Friday night, according to NWS.
