DETROIT — With the start of the NFL season less than a month away comes a new study that shows Detroit Lions fans are paying some of the league's steepest prices.
A family of four attending a Lions game at Ford Field in downtown Detroit could spend an estimated $2,109.50, the fourth-highest total in the NFL, according to an Action Network that looked at ticket listings, concessions and parking to determine the overall average.
Action Network said its researchers analyzed 539,192 ticket listings, along with stadium food, drink and parking costs, to estimate the price of a family outing. The study was published Aug. 11.
The Lions' estimated $2,109.50 family cost trails only the Buffalo Bills' Highmark Stadium, Chicago Bears' Soldier Field and Philadelphia Eagles' Lincoln Financial Field. Those three stadiums had a combined difference of $4,371.26 to Ford Field.
The NFL average is expected to be $1,474.55, putting the Ford Field estimate $634.95 above the league average.
Four tickets to a Lions game cost roughly $1,971.68, the fourth highest average among all 32 teams. Parking adds another roughly $80. Concessions also add up with an average of $33.04 for four hot dogs, $14.88 for two beers and $9.90 for two pops, according to the study.
The study also found that the Lions' family game-day cost increased 2.7 percent from $2,053.53 in 2025 when Ford Field was the second most expensive venue.
At the opposite end was Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, where a comparable family outing was estimated at $823.13 — $1,286.37 less than at Soldier Field.
The Lions lost their preseason opener 16-14 against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium last Thursday. The Lions next preseason game is Saturday against the Washington Commanders at Ford Field. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
