Just steps from major stadiums and theaters, the family-owned restaurant expands its Detroit presence beyond Midtown with all-day breakfast favorites like waffles, pancakes, and French toast.

2. 2 bodies found at a Detroit home. Then police searched the basement (freep.com subscription) β Detroit police discovered a 14-year-old boy and his mother dead in a west-side home after neighbors reported a foul odor, then later found skeletal remains believed to be the long-missing husband in the basement. All three are thought to have died from gunshot wounds. The chief also highlighted other recent Detroit shootings and urged residents to regularly check on loved ones' well-being.

Trump floats renaming Lake Ontario as 'Lake America' as trade war with Canada escalates (newser.com) β A Warren furniture maker just outside Detroit warns that Trump's escalating trade fight with Canada and steep tariffs could hurt his family business and community. As Trump even muses about renaming Lake Ontario, both countries brace for higher costs, retaliatory measures, and uncertainty for auto, steel, and other industries tightly linked to Michigan's economy.

UAW, Shawn Fain respond to Trump's 50% tariff threat on Canadian autos (detroitnews.com) β Detroit's own UAW leadership is pushing back on President Trump's threat to slap 50% tariffs on Canadian auto imports, arguing it clashes with the Detroit-based union's priorities. Union president Shawn Fain says tariffs should instead target low-wage countries and be part of a broader rewrite of trade deals to protect North American auto workers.
