1. Southwest Detroit business owner accused of laundering money to Mexico (cbsnews.com) — A Southwest Detroit restaurant, store, and money transfer business called La Posada is at the center of federal money-laundering charges, with its owner accused of sending drug-related cash to Mexico. After months of undercover work, agents say they seized about $80,000 from his Detroit home and found more bulk currency at the business, leading to multiple federal counts tied to alleged laundering of cocaine proceeds.

2. Detroit Jazz Festival returns for 47th year — and free music (detroitnews.com) — Detroit's 47th annual Jazz Festival is wrapping up today at Hart Plaza with free performances running from 12:30 to 8 p.m., giving you one last chance to catch big-name and student acts downtown. Crowds of longtime Detroiters and visitors praised the music, kid-friendly atmosphere, and free admission, even as some regulars complained that moving everything into Hart Plaza made Saturday night feel cramped.

3. In east Detroit, tornado recovery means rebuilding, and looking to God (detroitnews.com) — Detroit's east side is still clearing debris and repairing buildings after last week's rare tornado, with more than 250 downed trees removed and 65 streets reopened so far. A local church in Islandview managed to hold services despite major damage, while Mayor Mary Sheffield's emergency declaration is helping the city seek state and federal recovery aid for affected residents.

4. Gunfire strikes driver's seat in freeway shooting on I-94: MSP (audacy.com) — Drivers on Detroit's west side are being asked to share any dashcam video or tips after a gunman fired into a vehicle on westbound I-94 near Livernois early Sunday, striking the driver's seat but missing the victim. Michigan State Police are investigating the shooting, which happened around 1:49 a.m., and want to hear from anyone who saw suspicious vehicles near I-94 or I-96.
