Beloved Giant Slide At Belle Isle In Detroit Reopens Friday

DETROIT — The famous giant slide at Belle Isle is finally reopening Friday, according to news reports.

Belle Isle park officials will host plenty of games and activities at the park to celebrate the reopening Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Rides down the giant slide will be free only on Friday, according to park officials.

After that, rides will cost $1 and the slide will be open 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Fridays and 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, according to park officials.

The beloved giant slide was closed down from 2020 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The slide reopened in August 2022, but then it quickly shut back down for repairs after riders bounced and screamed all the way down.
