Mark Bernstein Out Of Michigan Governor's Race: Report
University of Michigan Board of Regents President Mark Bernstein, a Democrat, is expected to tell supporters he's not running for governor.

Ann Arbor attorney Mark Bernstein is expected to tell supporters Tuesday that he’s no longer in the race for Democrats’ nomination for Michigan governor in 2018, The Detroit News is reporting. The newspaper cited sources close to Bernstein, the University of Michigan Board of Regents president, who said he would be sharing this decision with supporters.
Bernstein’s exit from the race gives former state Senate Majority Leader Gretchen Whitmer of East Lansing an opportunity to shore up her support among Democrats. She is considered the leading candidate in a Democratic field that also includes Shri Thanedar, an Ann Arbor entrepreneur, and Bill Cobbs, a former Xerox executive who lives in Farmington Hills.
