DETROIT — President Joe Biden is planning to visit Michigan later this month, according to White House officials.

Biden plans to speak at the Detroit NAACP annual Fight for Freedom Fund dinner on May, 19, according to White House officials.

The dinner is scheduled to take place at Detroit's Huntington Place, which sits along the Detroit River and can host roughly 10,000 guests.

The news of Biden's trip comes the same day as former President and Republican front-runner Donald Trump is planning to visit Michigan. Trump is expected to hold a campaign rally Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Avflight Saginaw near Freeland.

Michigan is expected to play an important role in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election.

Biden and Trump cruised to easy victories in Michigan's presidential primary back in February. But more than 100,000 Michiganders voted "uncommitted" in the Democrat Primary. The votes were mostly cast in opposition to Biden's handling of the Israel-Hamas War.
