Boy, 4, Killed In I-75 Detroit Crash Caused By Drunken Mother: Police

DETROIT — A 4-year-old boy was killed in a three-car crash on Interstate 75 near Piquette Avenue in Detroit on Monday, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers arrived at the crash scene at roughly 1:10 p.m. and found the 4-year-old unresponsive on the ground, according to police.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died, according to police.

Investigators said the boy's mother, a 30-year-old woman, was the at-fault driver in the crash, and they believe she was driving drunk, according to police.

Police were still investigating the crash and said they will turn over their findings to the prosecutor's office.

"This crash is under investigation by the MSP Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Metro South Post," Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw said. "There are several more things to finish, and an investigators' report will be submitted to the prosecutor when completed."
