Boy, 8, Shoots Brother, 11, In Face; Father Charged: Prosecutors
Prosecutors say the father left three young children home alone with an unsecured handgun when the incident occurred Thursday.
DETROIT, MI — A Detroit father faces felony charges after his 8-year-old son allegedly found an unsecured handgun and shot his 11-year-old brother in the face.
Muammar Markus Wallace, 38, was charged with violating Michigan's firearm safe-storage law and felony firearm following the Thursday shooting at a home in the 8000 block of Artesian Street, according to MLive.com.
Prosecutors allege Wallace left his three children, ages 4, 8 and 11, home alone when the 8-year-old discovered the gun and fired it, striking his older brother in the face, according to the article. The injured boy was hospitalized, and Wallace was arraigned Saturday in Detroit's 36th District Court.

Wallace received a $100,000 personal recognizance bond and faces up to 10 years in prison on the safe-storage charge if convicted, MLive reported.
