Cabela’s Grand Opening In Metro Detroit: Date, Prize Giveaways, Raffles
The first customers in line at Chesterfield Township store Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will receive gift certificates and prizes.

An employee at outdoor retailer Cabela’s newest megastore — it’s fourth in Michigan, and first in the Detroit metro — will aim an arrow and pierce the ribbon to officially open the store to the public at 10 a.m. Thursday. The store is located at 45959 Towne Center Blvd. in Chesterfield Township, where it is the anchor tenant in the still-under construction Chesterfield Towne Center.
The grand opening comes with lots of free stuff. The first 500 customers in the door Thursday get Cabela’s gift certificates valued at anywhere from $10 to $500. Gifts will be given to the first 50 customers in the door throughout the weekend. On Friday, the swag is a Cabela’s utility bag; on Saturday, it’s a commemorative cap; and on Sunday, it’s a tripod stool.
Raffles will also be held, according to an announcement on Cabela’s website. And shhh, iIf you’re a Cabela’s Club card holder, or if you plan to apply for a card at the store and are accompanied by a card holder, you can shop Tuesday and Wednesday at the 90,000-square-foot store. It’s larger than the outdoor gear retailer’s stores in Saginaw and Grandville, but smaller than the store in Dundee.
Cabela’s has said it has provided employment for about 175 seasonal and full- and part-time employees to staff the store, most of them from Macomb County.
