Claressa Shields Making Pro Debut in Vegas Saturday
Two-time Olympic gold medalist from Flint decides against Tokyo games, goes for a different type of gold.

(Posted Nov. 17, 2016) Claressa Shields is going pro, USA Today reports. The two-time gold Olympic medal winner who says she's "just a girl from Flint" will make her pro debut in Las Vegas Saturday.
“I am thrilled to take the next big step in my career, fighting professionally and leading the rise of women’s boxing worldwide,” Shields said in a statement. “There is no better place to begin the journey than to join the biggest fight of the year, Kovalev vs. Ward, and to fight alongside my idol and fellow U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward, USA Today is reporting.
