Coronavirus Cases In Michigan Near 800; 5 People Dead
A Detroit woman in her 90s was the fifth confirmed death in the state Saturday, according to reports.
The total number of new coronavirus cases in Michigan jumped by more than 200 Saturday as nearly 800 people have now tested positive for the virus, according to a report. A Detroit woman in her 90s has also died from complications of the virus, the Detroit Free Press reported, the fifth death to be reported in the state since the virus was first confirmed in the state less than two weeks ago.
Wayne County (not including Detroit) and Macomb County each have 101 cases, Oakland County has 229 and Detroit, which the state tallies separately from Wayne County, has 248, the Free Press reported.
A total of 787 cases have been confirmed statewide.

Previously reported deaths in Michigan, according to the Free Press, included a 50-year-old Oakland County man with underlying health conditions that died Friday; an 81-year-old woman with underlying health conditions that died Thursday in Detroit; a woman in her 50s, also with underlying health conditions, that died at McLaren Oakland Hospital on Thursday; and a Southgate man with underlying health conditions in his 50s, who died early Wednesday morning in Wayne County.
