Dead Body Found on Detroit City Airport Runway: Update

A dead body was discovered on the runway at the Coleman A. Young International Airport, according to reports. This is a developing story.

(Updated) DETROIT, MI — A dead body was found Wednesday morning on a runway at the Coleman A. Young International Airport, formerly known as the Detroit City Airport, according to media reports. The male's body was spotted from the control tower around noon, but police are puzzled by how it got there.

WJBK-TV reporter John Shull tweeted that police are on the scene and are investigating. The cause of the individual's death was not obvious, Detroit police told WDIV.

Police said the body is that of a 61-year-old Detroit man. There was no sign of trauma to his body.

Detroit Police Sgt. Adam Madera told the Detroit Free Press police don't know how the man's body got on the runway.

An autopsy is scheduled Thursday, Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office spokesman Lloyd Jackson told theFree Press.
