Detroit 2017 Ford Fireworks: Schedule, Theme, Rooftop Party, More

With world renowned choreography, "Detroit! Right Now!" is the theme of the 59th annual Ford Fireworks display over the Detroit River.

DETROIT, MI – There’s nothing like the Ford Fireworks to kick off the week preceding the 4th of July. This is the 59th year for the fireworks display along the Detroit River and 1 Hart Plaza. The show starts at 9:48 p.m. on Monday, June 26.

Admission is free, but get there early because the fireworks are a Metro Detroit favorite More than 10,000 pyrotechnic fireworks are shot off from three barges on the Detroit River. The big party includes music, singing competitions and other events.

The theme of this year’s extravaganza is “Detroit! Right Now!” to capture the excitement and energy of Detroit’s renaissance. The show will be choreographed by Patrick Brault, the president of Sirius Pyrotechnics who brings 25 years experience illuminating the world’s skies, including displays at past Olympics ceremonies.

Canadians love the event, too, gathering in Windsor for a pre-party to celebrate Canada Day as Americans gear up for Independence Day on July 4. July 1 is Canada’s 150th birthday.

The celebration includes a soiree on the rooftop of the Center Parking Garage next to the Renaissance Center, one of The Parade Company’s most important fundraisers. Ford Motor Company is the presenting sponsor of the rooftop party, which affords the best views of the fireworks.

Those attending will be able to rub elbows with Metro Detroit glitterati, including hundreds business and civic leaders. Tickets sell out quickly, and are available by emailing Carol Ann Barbb at cbarbb@theparade.org.

The ticket includes food from Andiamo, a selection of drinks, interactive games for kids and live entertainment from Your Generation In Concert. WDIV-TV and WJR Radio will broadcast live from the rooftop.
