Detroit Area City Appears On ICE List For Planned Detention Center Spot: Report

The metro Detroit location is one of 23 sites ICE has planned across the country, according to a report.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is planning to use a warehouse in Romulus as an immigration jail to house undocumented immigrants, according to a Bloomberg report.

The specific Romulus location wasn't cited in the report, but it did list the proposed facility to hold 500 beds, making it one of the smaller sites planned.

The Romulus location is one of 23 sites ICE has planned across the country. The facilities the federal agents plan to use were originally designed and marketed as e-commerce distribution facilities, according to the report.

Some sites could hold up to 9,500 beds, though there's no guarantee each of the 23 proposed sites will be converted due to recent pushback on the Trump administration's immigration policies, the report noted.
