Detroit Bakery Reopens In Midtown With 25 Cent Cookies
A popular Detroit bakery is reopening Wednesday morning with an official "giant cookie cutting" ceremony to celebrate.
DETROIT — A popular Detroit bakery is reopening Wednesday morning with an official "giant cookie cutting" ceremony to celebrate.
After closing its cafe of 25 years in Midtown on Willis Street in January, Avalon will debut its new cafe Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. inside the Jolly Pumpkin at 411 West Canfield Street in Midtown.
The bakery will be selling their famous sea salt chocolate chip cookies for 25 cents each all day, with a limit of two per customer.

The new cafe inside the Jolly Pumpkin will feature more seating, weekend brunch, specialty beverages and bakery items from Avalon, including those curated from some of Detroit’s best woman-owned bakeries.
Starting Wednesday, the bakery's hours are 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. Mon.-Sat. and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sundays.

The bakery decided to shut its doors at the Willis Street location because of the changing nature of the Cass Corridor and the post COVID-19 economy, co-founder Jackie Victor said.
Avalon also has locations in downtown Detroit, Rivertown on Jefferson, Royal Oak and Ann Arbor.
