Detroit Boy Found Dead Inside Freezer, Mother Arrested: Police

DETROIT — A mother was arrested after police found a 3-year-old boy dead inside a freezer at a Detroit home's basement Friday morning, Detroit Police said.

Police said officers were conducting a 1 a.m. welfare check at a home on the 12700 block of Monte Vista, near Interstate 96 and Grand River Avenue on the city's west side when found they discovered the young boy.

It's also unclear how long the boy was inside the freezer, but police said the body was decomposing. There were also five other kids in home, which police said was in poor condition.

"Very troubling case, very, very troubling case," Detroit Police Chief James White said.

No further information was released police as the investigation continues.
