Detroit Elections Department Prepares To Count Record Number Of Mail Ballots

Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey will discuss preparations for a safe and secure Presidential Election at a news conference Thursday at 11 a.m. at the TCF Center. Detroit has pivoted to provide a safe way for voters to cast absentee ballots during the Coronavirus pandemic. Simultaneously, the Department of Elections increased in-person absentee voting satellite locations throughout Detroit.

The news conference will be held at the TCF Center in Hall E at 1 Washington Boulevard, Detroit, Michigan. The TCF Center is the location of the Central Counting Board where all absentee ballots will be processed and counted.

With the addition of 25 Dominion High-Speed Tabulators, Detroit is poised to process and tabulate a record number of absentee ballots. Clerk Winfrey will provide a walk-through and demonstration of the process that will include the use of the new technology employed to successfully administer the forthcoming election.
