Detroit Lions Lose Reliable Wide Receiver In Free Agency

DETROIT — The Detroit Lions lost a valuable player to the team's successful NFC Championship game run last season.

Wide Receiver Josh Reynolds agreed to a two-year deal worth up to $14 million with the Denver Broncos, according to multiple reports.

Reynolds, whom the Lions claimed off waivers in November of the 2021 season, earned a two-year, $6 million extension after that season. He quickly became a reliable target for quarterback Jared Goff over the last three seasons.

Reynolds, 29, caught 40 passes for 608 yards, which was just short of his career high he set for the Los Angeles Rams in 2020. He also caught five touchdown passes last season for the Lions too, but he also had two critical drops in the NFC Championship game lost to the San Francisco 49ers.

Lions General Manager Brad Holmes recently said re-signing Reynolds was a top priority for the team, but apparently the two sides couldn't come to an agreement.

The Lions could target a wide receiver in the upcoming NFL Draft or possibly sign a free agent to help fill the void Reynolds left.

The Lions did resign wide receiver Donavan Peoples-Jones, who could also help fill the spot.
