The divisional round matchup Sunday will be the second time the Lions and Buccaneers face-off this season. The Lions defeated the Buccaneers 20-6 in Tampa earlier this season. Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw for 353 yards and two touchdowns in the game. The Lions defense held the Buccaneers to only 46 yards rushing and 205 yards passing.
The last time the Lions won a divisional round matchup was in 1991 when they defeated the Dallas Cowboys 38-6. The Lions then lost the 1991 NFC Championship to the Washington Redskins 41-10. That remains the only time the Lions ever played for a trip to the Big Game.
If the Lions defeat the Buccaneers Sunday, they will either host the NFC Championship game here in Detroit against the Green Bay Packers, or they'll travel to Santa Clara, California to play the San Francisco 49ers, who are the no. 1 seed in the NFC.
