DETROIT — A Detroit man died Wednesday after he was electrocuted by a downed power line, according to police.

Police said the incident happened on the 4200 block of Holcomb Street near Sylvester Street on Detroit's east side.

The incident comes after a line of powerful storms knocked out power to more than 200,000 homes and businesses in the Detroit area Tuesday, according to DTE Energy.

The utility reminded people to stay at least 25 feet away from any downed power lines.
