Detroit Man Dies After He Was Electrocuted By Downed Wire: Police

DETROIT — A Detroit man died Wednesday after he was electrocuted by a downed power line, according to police.

Police said the incident happened on the 4200 block of Holcomb Street near Sylvester Street on Detroit's east side.

Investigators were still trying to determine how the man came into contact with the downed wire, according to police.

DTE Energy said they are working with police on the incident.

The incident comes after a line of powerful storms knocked out power to more than 200,000 homes and businesses in the Detroit area Tuesday, according to DTE Energy.

The utility reminded people to stay at least 25 feet away from any downed power lines.

No other details were immediately released.
