Detroit Man Dies After He Was Mauled By 3 Dogs: Report

The three dogs that attacked the man were euthanized​ by their owner, who was also fined $5,000, according to a report.

DETROIT — A Detroit man died Friday evening after he was mauled by three dogs in January, according to an Associated Press report.

Harold Phillips, a father of six, was on his way home from the mall on Jan. 29 when the attack occurred near West Chicago and Longacre Street in Detroit, according to FOX 2.

"It’s with deep sadness that I announce Harold’s passing," Phillips wife said in a statement released by her attorneys. "It’s painful to think of all the important milestones Harold will miss in our children’s lives, from our son’s first basketball game this weekend to our daughter’s upcoming daddy-daughter dance that he was looking forward to. Our lives will never be the same."

The three dogs that attacked Phillips were euthanized by their owner, who was also fined $5,000, WWJ-TV reported.

Five of the couple’s six children are under 18, according to a GoFundMe to raise money for his medical expenses. As of Monday afternoon, the page raised more than $60,000.

"He is an amazing father and a good husband who takes pride in his family and we are asking for any help that y’all can give," Phillips' wife wrote on the GoFundMe page.
